2020 has been a rollercoaster of a journey for everyone, businesses old and new, but for me, its given me the opportunity to flourish.

If you’d of said to me back in August when I first launched Newlyn Maids, by Christmas time the website will be growing by the day and you’ll have a ‘pop up’ shop in St Ives….. I’d of likely said something along the lines of “I wish”!

Christmas Post
Christmas 2020

When I started Newlyn Maids, I had lots of visions, lots of ambitions for the future. I knew where I wanted the business to go, I knew I wanted to grow it into something great. I also knew that all of those things take time, effort and patience.

I’m no business expert, I’ve never ran my own business before, but what I have is a good business head. I know the basics, enough to be brave enough to launch a business during a world wide pandemic!

What started off as side line to my normal 9-5pm job in the food industry, has now taken a hold on life and is growing by the day. I am incredibly proud of where I am right now, It took me a long time to believe in myself, but I think I’m nearly there.

Who knows what each day holds for any of us? Who knows in times like these, where life’s changing daily for so many people, what’s around the corner? These last 10 months have taught me an awful lot about life. One being that it is incredibly precious and we should always be thankful for what we have, no matter how big or small. No need to compare your life with others, just live it for what it is!

Thing’s I have learnt in recent weeks are; if life offers you an opportunity, you must take it. However risky, however bold, however brave, take it. I am a great believer that everything happens for a reason………..

I have made decisions lately that have thrown my world into absolute turmoil. I had to make the hardest decision ever to cut ties with my day job, my safety net, my monthly income, so I could put my heart and sole into my business. I was petrified, but I did it and I now know in my own head, it was definitely the right thing to do, not only for me, but for my family too. My girls are my absolute world, they give me the push and determination I need to be successful and show them that you can have anything in life, if you work hard for it.

I have visions and goals and one day I’ll reach them, however long it takes, I’ll never give up. I wouldn’t be where I am right now if it wasn’t for the continued support from my family, my husband Ed, my girls, but mostly from everyone who has supported and continues to support us and Newlyn Maids as a business.

We hope to be announcing some exciting news in the New Year, so keep your eyes peeled to see what’s next for us!
